The subcommittee meeting is the LAST chance for the public to testify in support of trans youth healthcare access in 2024 – so we want to be sure you know how to take action. There are two ways to testify.

Last week, more than 100 supporters joined us on the steps of the South Carolina Statehouse, to rally together and send a clear message: Harmful, anti-transgender bills are not supported by the people and have no place in the Palmetto State.

“This ban will cause so much anguish, chaos, and confusion for trans youth, their family members, and their loved ones. There is no reason to pass this bill, and it is imperative that the Senate now reject it.”

Today the South Carolina House Medical and Health Affairs Subcommittee voted to advance H.4624 favorably to the full Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs Committee.

It’s critical for advocates, parents, and South Carolinians to fully understand the bill so we can push back as hard as possible and defeat it.

Kenya Cummings on our Organizing team connected with hundreds of South Carolinians organizing against anti-LGBTQ+ bills last year. In 2024, they’re running a team of organizers from the Uplands to Low Country to make sure our friends and neighbors are ready to speak out for our rights when it matters most.

Donations will go toward supporting rapid response organizers in key regions across the state so they can put pressure on lawmakers when and where it will matter most.

Today is World AIDS Day, a time to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and honor those who have lost their lives to AIDS related illnesses. The theme of this year’s World AIDS day is “Remember and Commit”. The word “remember” encourages us to take time to honor those we have lost. The word “commit” implores us to take collective action towards health equity for people living with HIV.
